“The Weight of the Raven” represents the heaviness of loneliness—the quiet burden of repeatedly trying to connect with others, only to find those connections fading, or never deepening beyond surface-level small talk and brief, forgettable encounters. Each attempt that doesn’t take root only intensifies the feeling of isolation.

Over time, reaching out begins to feel futile. As a result, withdrawal becomes a refuge, and isolation slowly replaces effort. But that distance deepens the very emptiness it was meant to protect against. In that space, feelings of worthlessness can take hold, and it can start to feel as if you are completely alone in the dark.
