Bound to Ash explores the relentless cycle of fighting to rise when life refuses to let go. A phoenix—symbol of rebirth and resilience—struggles to ascend from its ashes, only to be dragged back down by the crushing weight of hardship, expectation, and the hands of others.

With each attempt, its strength fades. Its fire grows dimmer. Tears stream from its eyes as exhaustion settles into every feather. Mentally, emotionally, and physically depleted, the phoenix continues to fight—not because it believes it will succeed, but because it no longer knows how to stop.

Bound to Ash is a portrait of burnout, despair, and the painful feeling of being trapped in an endless cycle where hope flickers but never fully dies.

Even the surface upon which it is painted carries its own story of struggle and rebirth. Crafted from reclaimed pallet wood, it too has fought against the weight of its past, yearning to discover a new purpose within the heart and home of its viewer.
